Happy
Holidays to one and all from TYDmusic.com
Can
you believe it's that time of the year again where we all look forward
to what the new year brings - what resolutions to make (or break for
that matter). Everyone I'm sure has their own way of celebrating the
Christmas holidays and New Year, whether it's with loved ones or friends
and for me it's that time of year that you take the time to reflect
on how you lived the past year and did you achieve all you set out
to do that year.
I did achieve a
few of my dreams (like having my own website with audio and losing
25 lbs) and likewise some I did not (like winning the lottery for
one - I oculd do with $10 million) but the one thing about all of
this is that where dreams are concerned there is always hope and with
drive and ambition you can achieve anything you want to achieve and
that's my message to one and all for the forthcoming New Year. Have
a great New Year everybody, be good to each other, dare to be different
and always 'dare to dream'.
Sincerely
Sir Ty Duncan

Calvin
Richardson's 'Going to the Club'
- Calvin
Richardson is a voice you should get to know. You've
heard him on the track 'Close your eyes'
featuring Monifah not to mention
appearing on Angie Stone's album
Mahogany Soul (on the track
'More than a woman'). And speaking
of 'More than a woman' the song
is featured on the forthcoming 'Deliver
us from Eva' movie soundtrack starring Gabrielle
Union and James Tood Smith
(aka LL Cool J)
-
- His latest exploit is a great
little dance number called 'Go to the Club'
(taken from the 'Friday after next'
- soundtrack) a very groovy, very catchy R&B track that just
makes you wanna get up and dance to it. It's not hard ot see why
he has a voice to be reckoned with. The Charlotte. NC native has
the same musical traditions of those he admires the most, R&B
greats such as Marvin Gaye,
Sam Cooke and
Donny Hathaway are all legends in their own right
and Calvin one could be in that legion. He has that pure, raw, unforgettable
soul-delivering music that can get to you in an instant.
Richardson began his musical
career as a child, performing in the church choir alongside fellow
crooners K-Ci and Jo-Jo.
Now, several years on, Richardson continues to weave his magic with
his sultry, seductive voice. With the likes of Vikter
Duplaix on board, Hollywood
Records' seems poised to make a dent in the R&B market
next year, Richardson is a promising vocalist/writer/musician, who
should shine in his own right. Calvin's sophomore album drops next
year..

Ubiquity
Recordings releasess 'Rewind - Vol.2'
-
As you know I'm an addictive enthusiast when it comes to rare
grooves and so when I heard Ubiquity
Recordings was dropping another compilation set, my
curiosity was tweeted. The compilation in question is Rewind
2 (the follow up to the original Rewind
from earlier this year) and it showcases tracks of original flavour,
revamped by today hottest acts.
The lead off single from
the album is a classic track indeed. Faze
O's Ridin' High
(my all time rare groove tune) is wonderfully overhauled by
The Platinum Pied Pipers,
a Detroit native band of rappers produced by Slum
Village co-producer Waajeed.
The beat is wicked and true, very tight and fierce with excellent
production allowing the lads to strut their stuff.
On the flipside of the
single is another classic,Yesterdays
New Quintet does an excellent cover of the late Weldon
Irvine's 'Deja Vu'.
The song stays true in every aspect of the original with references
to today's style of rhythm. Irvine sadly passed away earlier
this year when he committed suicide.
The album itself will have
5 exclusive tracks featuring the likes of Roy
Davis Jr, Greyboy,
Joseph Malik, The
Soul Bossa Trio and Terry
Callier among others. The street date is set for
February 2003.

- Jermaine
Dupri's cars, properties seiged by IRS
Record
producer, label owner and rapper Jermaine
Dupri was paid a visit from the Internal Revenue Service.
The music mogul it seems owes millions to the federal government for
taxes not being paid and in an effort to get payment a seizure of
Dupri's property, including a portion of his prized car collection,
was ordered to be repossesed.
Federal agents recently staged
a raid at two of the hip-hop producer's Atlanta residences, toting
away furniture, computers and cars, according to a report from CBS
Atlanta, which cited an unidentified source close to the seizure.
Atlanta's IRS field office declined to confirm the raid, since records
of seizure are not record of public domain. What is of public record,
is the amount that Dupri's owes the IRS. According to a federal tax
lien filed in Forsythe Superior Court in Atlanta and obtained by MTV
News, Dupri (whose real name is Jermaine
Dupri Mauldin) owes $2,541,865.
Dupri declined to comment on
the seizure, but did dispute the amount owed. "The numbers are
wrong, and the truth will soon be shown." Dupri said in a statement
to MTV News
In the meantime, Dupri is due
to announce this week that he just signed a deal making Arista the
new home for his So So Def label. His star acts Lil' Bow Wow and Jagged
Edge will remain with Columbia, while Dupri will take rapper Da Brat,
singer Fundisha and three new acts to his Arista/So So Def imprint.
