New Chico Debarge album is on the way

The rumor mill has it that Chico Debarge is getting ready to drop his 5th album but this time it will be on the singer's own label. The album called 'Free' will be released on Koch Records on March 26th and features Chico as writer and producer on the set.

"The album's personal, it's just me expressing myself. I didn't try to be contrived; it's very true to what I'm going through." Chico confesses,"Going independent means having a destiny secured, you can only be a hot singer for so long and really what have you achieved ... a Gold album? You want to be able to set up a career where you can be 70 years old and still call the shots." Chico has had sold numerous albums with several claiming gold status both as a member of DeBarge and as a solo artist but in 2000 he and Motown respectfully parted ways. He quickly created his own label (Alove Records) which enables him to call the shots on all levels and has now partnered with KOCH Records

Regarding the album, Vibe Magazine writes "Free is reminiscent of 1972's (Stevie Wonder) Music of My Mind. And though DeBarge has yet to develop Stevie's breadth of vision with FREE; he's well on his way to higher ground.

Be on the lookout for this one as it might just surprise everyone and give Chico the recognision he truly deserves.

Ex Eternal singer down with fatal disease

French sister duo - Les NubiansKelle Bryan, a member of the group Eternal when it was a trio and when a foursome, has revealed that she has contracted the disease Lupus, a potentially deadly illness. Speaking on a UK television Channel 5 documentary, It's Your Funeral, she explained that her diagnosis has caused her to question her own mortality, realising that she could 'die at any time'.

Kelle is said to have discovered her condition around two years ago, and is quoted as having said, "What I've got isn't contagious, it's not catching, it's just within me. It just changed my life. I'm here, I'm breathing and I'm happy. This is my life and i'm going to enjoy it."

We offer our deepest sympathies to Kelle Bryan and her family at this time.
