Puffy makes up w/MJB, will produce her album

 

They started their careers together back in the early 90s when Puffy was then a PR and remixer for Heavy D's Uptown records. But since then, both went their seperate ways and have done bigger and better things. As one would expect, fueds happen and they too were ones to fall prey to them.

But that was then and this is now as both Mary J. Blige (aka MJB) and P Diddy (aka Sean Combs) seemed to have patched up their differences and he will be producing her new album.

The reaason why they fell out remains a mystery - it is thought it may have something to do with the fact that P Diddy after creating his own label (Bad Boy) started calling Faith Evans the 'Queen of Hip Hop' a monekee he gave to Mary originally.

Now they have reunited after not speaking to each other for a minute to work on her new studio album called 'Love and Life'. The first single will be called 'Love At First Site' which sees her re-collaborating with Method Man (She worked on his track 'You're all I need to get by'). Mary says she and Puffy made up because they grew up:

"It was a lot of fun working with Puffy - it's always difficult because he is Puffy! But it's a lot of fun when you grow up and you understand that, you know, he is just Puffy. It's like neither one of us changed, we just grew up, you know. It was great."

'Love and Life' is out in August.

Lil' Kim's jewelry is stolen at airport then recovered

Just last week, Lil' Kim (aka Kim Jones) was screaming and funing over the loss of her property but now that the jewelry has been recovered, she is eternally grateful.

The pint sized rapper had her jewelry stolen on Jun 20th at Kenneday International Airport as she was on her way to Los Angeles to attend the BET Awards. There was a mix-up at the ticket counter resulting in a Louis Vuitton bag containing $500,000 worth of precious stones--which the 28-year-old takes as a carry-on--being checked with the rest of her and her entourage's luggage.

When she realized the mistake, she had the plane was delayed (yep you read right) so airline employees could fetch the bag from the cargo hold.

When she got the bag back and checked her jewels, she found that someone had rifled through the bag and swiped several expensive pieces, including her diamond-studded gold necklace with a crowned "B" (a nod to her Queen B Record label) and platinum dog tags featuring yellow diamonds. She promply departed from the plane and filed a police report on the jewelry.

Over the weekend, a United Airlines employee discovered the precious baubles, wrapped in a rag in a locker room for airline workers, and turned them in, happily ending the tale.

"I'm deeply gratified that Lil' Kim's unnerving experience has ended with the recovery of her irreplaceable jewelry," her attorney, Mel Sachs, said "This was some ordeal to go through."

Brandy and producer husband go their seperate ways

 

It seems the trend continues as famous couples go their seperate ways after being married for a short period of time. Most recent to be added to the long ongoing list is noted singing 'Diva' Brandy aka Brandy Norwood who has called it quits on her marriage to her producer and now ex-husband Robert Smith after just 2 years .

"They are not together. They will remain friends and raise their daughter jointly," a spokesperson for the singer said last Friday. To date, no reason was given for the breakup.

They secretly got married in the summer of 2001 but kept it on the down low as they didn't announce their marriage until February of last year, while the R&B singer was in the midst of promoting her album Full Moon.

No more than a month later, she announced she was pregnant. Then came the MTV series that chronicled the star through the last stages of her pregnancy, climaxing with the birth of her baby daughter, Sy'rai, born June 16, 2002.

Since then, she has been busy raising their daughter and working on a new album with Smith who has worked with Michael Jackson and the Spice Girls in the past.

Pharrell of Neptunes fame drops singing single

 

Being a producer and appearing in videos is one thing but singing is another hat entirely, does he have what it takes? Well Pharrell Williams the one half team of the super producers The Neptunes seems not to think so as he releases his debut single 'Frontin' featuring Jay Z.

Said Pharrell "I don't see myself as a singer. I just try to express myself. I feel better and more comfortable with N.E.R.D., but I'm glad [my new single] 'Frontin' ' is getting [a warm] reception from everybody." The track is taken from the Neptunes produced compilation 'Star Trak Presents Clones', due out this summer. The track sees the famed produce/rapper doing the solo thing as he's high pitching vocals takes center stage. It's a nice track that should see the youngster add another top ten hit to his already impressive body of work.

Appearing on the album is Kelis and Nas, Busta Rhymes, after a long absence Super Cat, Spymob, The Clipse, Fam Lay, Roscoe P. Coldchain and Usher, among others.
