Newcomer Javier self titled set in stores tomorrow

Dangerous - Erykah Badu He sounds a lot like D'Angelo with a dash of Rashaan Patterson thrown in for good measure but then on the other hand he carries some of Maxwell's flair as well. Who am I talking about - well it's newcomer Javier.

His self-titled set hits record store shelves tomorrow and the talented singer, songwriter, instrumentalist states ''There's just so much I wanted to write and sing about on my first album, I wanted to include so many different styles of music on this album because variety is what I'm all about".

The lead off single 'Crazy' is a sensual ballad that draws off the emotions of love and the effects of what it can do to a person. The single has been making the rounds at radio the last few weeks and is getting favorable reviews across the board. He's currently making the rounds promoting the record across the country.

Mariah tapped to sing the next Bond theme

My name is Carey, Mariah CareyAccording to reports, it's rumored that Mariah Carey could be in line to sing the next James Bond theme.

The yet to be titled film - which is scheduled to be Pierce Brosnan's last in the role - is in the early stages of pre-production but it' s said that Carey could come on board if she gets a cameo role herself. World Entertainment News Network reports that Carey is interested in a part in the movie on a similar standing as Madonna's brief recent appearance in Die Another Day.

"Mariah has had meetings with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson," a source is reported to have said.

"She was asked if she'd consider singing the theme tune for Bond 21. Mariah said she wanted a part in the new film although the story hasn't been discussed yet." .

Idol' winner alleged to be paid to wear jerseys on show

The owners of the hip-hop clothing maker 205 Flava Inc. say they secretly paid Ruben Studdard to wear the company's bright jerseys while he appeared on "American Idol," despite a ban by the program on such deals.

The owners Willie and Frederick Jenkins, made the claim in response to a lawsuit filed by Studdard last week accusing the brothers of wrongly profiting from his image as the second "American Idol" winner.

At a news conference, the lawyer for the owners LaVeeda Morgan Battle showed copies of $10,000 in checks made out to Studdard's brother, Kevin Studdard, and his manager, Ron Edwards. Battle said Studdard told the Jenkins brothers to "keep this confidential" because the Fox network prohibits "American Idol" contestants from entering into contracts while on the show.

Studdard refused comment. "The public will hear from us soon," said Studdard's lawyer, Byron Perkins. More to come I'm sure.
