Christina Aguilera's new beau is: Carmelo?

Seeing Melo?Say it isn't so, can it be true or is it another one for the rumor mill? Well it seems that reports have surfaced stating that the pop diva is apparently dating the NBA's newest superstar

According to BET.com there has been reports to suggest the two are a couple - quote ''Word on the street is that Denver Nuggets rookie standout Carmelo Anthony is dating singer Christina Aguilera, who up until a few weeks ago had been dating Jordan Bratman, 27, a partner at her management company, for over a year. Anthony, who will be 20 on May 29th, is worth millions and is one of the most-watched young players in the NBA. Aguilera, 24, a soulful singer, known for her revealing outfits, has been sporting a more subdued style lately'' unquote

Although there's no concrete evidence to prove that they are, most are not thrilled at the supposed relationship and according to nessage boards public opinion has taken a dislike to the supposely full fledge rumor.

Jon B retuens with new set - 'Everyday Struggles'

More Personal - Jon BSinger Jon B has been virtually unheard of in the last few years. Ever since his last release 'Pleasures U Like' dropped in 2001, he mostly been on hiatus with the exception of joining up with the group Jack Herrera who had the track 'High off You' appear on the Red Star Sounds Vol. 1 compilation but that's been about it up till now that is.

Jon (whos given name is Jonathon Buck) now returns with a brand new CD called 'Everyday Struggles' his 4th for ERG (Edmonds Record Group - formally Yab Yum) distributed by DreamWorks Records. The lead off single will be 'Patience'. Says Jon "I’ve been through a lot of emotional things that affected my music, I think people are going to feel that on this album and that’s important to me." 'Everyday Struggles' shows Jon's personal highs and lows if the single is any indication as he ups the anti to making his point that he's been patient long enough with the affairs of the heart. A welcome return for Jon who's body of work speaks for itself. He's back - no doubt. A tensitive date was set for December last year but has has since been pushed back. Keep you posted.

Truth Hurts returns with new name, label and long play.

Clean break - TruthWhen last we heard from Truth Hurts she was in a sticky situation involving a sample in her hit single "Addictive." That fiasco is behind her now, as is her association with Aftermath Records. Despite the lawsuits, and sampling controversies Truth says she holds no ill will towards her former label, "I'm just the type of person where I don't have any ill will towards anyone once the gig is up," she explains, "everything has a season and once the season's up you move on. There was never any funk between me and Dre it was more the business."

The business led Truth to Raphael Saadiq's label, Pookie Records. "I ended up landing there through a discussion with Raphael when I was on a second deal search, actually when I met him I was on a search for tracks. He talked about being independent, laid it out, made it sound real lucrative. Sounded like something I'd like to do." After thinking it over she linked back up with Saadiq and signed on with him.

The first thing that became obvious after Truth signed with Pookie Records is that there are a lot of differences between being on a major label and an independent. According to Truth being on an independent label has "helped me mature as an artist because the independent situation is totally different from the major label treatment. It's self contained, you really have to get into your business side."

With her business and musical sides in full gear Truth will be releasing her second album, "Ready Now," this summer and this time around there won't be any sampling controversies because there won't be any sampling. "There wasn't really any sort of sampling except me doing something that Tupac did," notes Truth, "we're not sure if Suge's gonna say yeah or nay." The thing that Truth did that could be traced back to Pac is on the standout track "Ride" where, at one point, she sings "ride a da da da da." She says to expect a lot musically out of "Ready Now" as there is "a lot of live instrumentation on a lot of the tracks, that's Raphael's M.O."

According to Truth, working with Saadiq has helped her music immensely. She says the creation of the album was "a great process, a peaceful process. Occasionally it was pressing, he was pressing me to be me." Pressing Truth to be Truth led to some extremely racy tracks, including the aforementioned "Ride" which features lines such as "you can call me names / make me believe I'm some bitch named Jane," and "I'm on my knees and I'm not about the pray." Truth says of the raciness "I'm grown honey! It is a reflection of a part of my womanhood. I think every woman has a sexy side, if not then UH OH. When I sexually express myself it's to say that there should be some freedom when we sexually express ourselves because we hardly get to do so. We have some of the same feelings but it's hard to express those feelings."

Ricky Fanté: Throw back to the 60s soul

New soul crooner Recently there's been a rebirth, a rebirth of the harmonizing soul of the 60s when the likes of Brook Benton, Bobby Womack and Eddie Floyd were mastering the airwaves with their then modern soul. Since then soul music has evolved and it's now come full circle.

In recent years we've seen the reassurgence of the 60s soul or 'Northern Soul' as it's otherwise known. Ebony Alleyne scored big last year with her hits, 'In Love with a Stranger' and 'Second Look', Josh Stone with her reninditions from the greats like Aretha Franklin, The Isley Bros and The Drifters taken from that era and now there's newcomer Ricky Fanté

Fanté, a 25-year-old southeast Washington, D.C. native, has a debut album called Rewind that will be on the record shop shelves in the next few weeks and there is plenty of hype surrounding the young vocalist. His rusty, infectious vocals has been compared to some of the best soul legends on grace the industry - the likes of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Al Green has been mentioned in comparison, an impressive list indeed. Be on the look out for Ricky, he could be going far.
