Soul
24-7 it seems has closed its doors permanently
- For
the second time in three years, my much beloved internet radio station,
Soul 24-7.com has ceased operations
last Wednesday (May 26th). Most of us never sa fans of the station
saw it coming in fact I don't think even the DJs on the station
knew at least according to what was said on the stations forum.
Although the reasons for them closing supposely was a corporate
one (the lack of funds being the obvious culprit), fans and DJs
alike are puzzled over why its happened again with the station.
In late 2001 the station closed their doors stating they were 'restructuring'
but then returned in August 2002 with a new office space, new address
and a renewed belief that they were meant to be here.
So what went wrong and why is it that stations like Solar
are striving and they cannot. There are alot of unhappy soul music
fans around the world right now who are shocked, mystified and are
in disbelief as to whats taken place and wants to know what they
can do to help and unfortunately there's no information to give
them help as they have also shut down their forum. I will keep you
posted with whatever I can find out but until then it's a shame
to see a great station such as Soul 24-7.com
gone.

Real
life fantasy for Fantasia - this years 'American Idol'
- Even
though my winner for this seasons 'American
Idol' was not there (Latoya
London who was voted off in the quarter finals), it was
no surprise that the eventual winner would be Fantasia
Barrino.
The stand off or the final two contestants would eventually be Fantasia
Barrino and Diana DeGarmo
and most knew that it's was a no-brainer that Fantasia was the hands
down favourite to win. She absolutely was on point last Tuesday
night and confirmed her victory the following night with her margin
of victory being a landslide with a gap of over a million votes
between the two contestants.
The 19 year old Barrino, like
the previous Idol winners will receive a recording contract with
her first single already planned, the song that would eventally
win her the contract 'I Believe'.
It was written by former 'Idol' contestant Tamyra
Gray, Who's debut album 'The
Dreamer' was released last Tuesday also.
Barrino accepted being the
latest 'American Idol' through a face full of tears saying, "Thank
you much. I broke my shoe! I been through some things but I worked
hard to get to where I'm at."
The runner-up was also as graceful
as the 16-year-old teenager and Snellville Ga native, Diana
DeGarmo said "I'm
so proud to have come here with Fantasia. She's my girl and you
guys will treat her well." We all wish them both well I'm sure?

We
are the Future fundraiser/concert airs this week
-
It's
the things that we as kdis and our own childre take for granted,
water, food a bed, television, games the list goes on and on but
what if kids didn't have them - that reality is here with us in
the modern era.
In the early 80s, non profit organizations were emerging with
various artist of the modern art form appearing together to perform
and record a song. One of the biggest being the 'We are the World'
foundation and subsequent record. The pioneer behind the foundation
was none other than Quincy Jones who with the help of Michael
Jackson and Lionel Richie penned the record.
Some 20 years later Quincy has formed another foundation the 'We
are the Future' foundation - a non-profit initiative dedicated
to the children who struggle daily to survive in conflict and
post-conflict areas. Our mission is the creation of We Are the
Future Child Centers in cities striving for stability after years
of violence. The Child Centers will offer a beacon of hope and
serve as a training ground, empowering young people to affect
positive social change in their communities. We Are the Future
is enlisting the ongoing involvement of the international community
through a global communications and fundraising campaign.
Along with Quincy
Jones, founder of The Listen Up Foundation he has
teamed up with Ambassador Uri Savir,
an architect of the Oslo Peace Accords and the founder of The
Glocal Forum, in a strategic partnership with the World Bank
under the leadership of Mr. James D. Wolfensohn, have joined
together to launch We Are the Future.
