Singer Vanessa Williams and hubby bball star Rick Fox seperate

Happier times - Vanessa Williams and Rick FoxAnother black star hollywood marriage bites the dust. Recently my favourite actress Halle Berry called it quits with husband singer Eric Benet (and rightfully so after what he did) and now actress, singer, and former Miss America Vanessa Williams and her NBA player hubby Rick Fox has called it quits on hermarriage. According to reports fron the New York Post, Representatives for both parties confirmed to People magazine that the photogenic couple are ending their five year union, though neither side has yet filed for divorce.

The publication cites an unnamed source who says the break-up is "not entirely surprising since they've spent their entire marriage living on opposite coasts." Williams lives in suburban New York while husband Fox lives in L.A. where he plays for the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. Williams and Fox have a four-year-old daughter named Sasha. Williams' last CD release was and she recently starred in Johnson Family Vacation.

Mariah Carey's new album due end of the year

New set on the way - Mariah CareyMariah Careys got a new album coming out on her MonarC label (distributed by Island Def Jam) that is due out at the end of the year. Her manager Benny Medina says the record will "hit all the marks," - from her signature ballads to crossover R&B appealed songs and high-energy dance tracks. She's been in the studio working with top listed producers such as Kanye West, Swizz Beats and R. Kelly.

Miss Carey is likely to do a tour in support of the album. "She really enjoyed the last touring experience, She really felt she put on a show that was her and connected with the audience. We're looking at the big picture. I think touring will be a part of it." explained Rob Light Creative Artists Agency agent for her upcoming childrens book.

Carey also is looking at acting in the theater. She is set to star in "The Prince and the Showgirl" the play (the film version starred Marilyn Monroe and Sir Lawrence Olivier back in the 60s) early next year in London's West End and Medina says Andrew Lloyd Webber's office has expressed interest in working with her on Broadway.

Fantasia dethrowns Usher to take the No.1 spot

All her own - FantasiaThe latest 'American Idol' winner Fantasia has dethrowned Pop and R&Bs reigning prince Usher atop the Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart. The newly crowned star of the hit TV reality show can boast that she has a No.1 single now after breaking the strangle hold Usher has enjoyed all to himself. The feat is somewhat suprising to most as it seems that nothing would end Usher's hold on the chart's top slot he's held for almost 5 months.

Despite ending his 19-week run at the top, Usher can still boasts three singles in the Hot 100's top 10. 'Burn' slides to No. 2 (after eight weeks at No. 1), 'Confessions Part II' drops one space to No. 3, and 'Yeah!' (featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris) ups one spot from 8-7. All three tracks taken from Usher's hit album 'Confessions'.

The song "I Believe" co-written by first season "Idol" qualifier Tamyra Gray becomes the Hot 100's first No. 1 debut since "Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken did it with his single 'This Is the Night' almost a year earlier selling 142,000 copies in the United States its first full scale sales week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Reigning Idol runner up Diana DeGarmo will release her single Dreams/I Believe next week.

Brandys new disc 'Afrodisiac' in stores now

I'm a woman and loving it - Brandy Brandy Norwood aka Brandy has been a busy woman of late. The singer/actress has gotten divorced, dropped an album (Full Moon) and became a mother all in the same year (year before last). Jump forward several months later and she's all grown up, more comfortable 'in her own skin' as she would say being very sexy in her vids and now has a new album in stores now.

'Afrodisiac' has been garnering rave reviews across the land and some even say it's her best work to date. She has been promoting the record hard too with a string of major national television appearances lined up highlighted by upcoming performances on NBC's 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' on Tuesday, July 13th; both CBS's 'Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn' and the syndicated 'On-Air with Ryan Seacrest' on Wednesday, July 14th, NBC's 'Today' show on Friday, July 16th; ABC's 'The View' on Monday, July 19th.

The discs lead-off hit single, 'Talk About Our Love' is produced, co-written by and features raps newest 'everywhere face' Kanye West. The song's video sees Brandy trying to get some doen time with her man (Kanye) but with the parents, housekeepers, personal assistants, anterouges and just about everyone else getting in the way it's hard to find the time and place. Brandy's look is a bit more sexier than before and shows herself more as a woman rather than the young girl that everyones used to seeing. So go get the album as it might surprise us all.
