Former
SWV singer ties the knot with famous football running back
- Well
this is a surprise to most SWV (Sisters With Voices) fans. Were
you aware that one of them got married recently? Tamara
'Taj' Johnson
tied the knot with the soon to be former Tennessee Titans star running
back Eddie George.
The couple tied the knot last month somewhere in New Jersey (a location
was not disclosed) and they jetset off to their honeymooned in Italy.
Speaking of George, he's no team player. He told the Titans, he's
not taking a pay cut so they can stay under the salary cap. I'm
not accepting it,'' he says.

Billy
Ocean - Ultimate Collection is on record shop shelves
- Getting
his just due is one of pop and R&Bs shining lights. Jamaican
born Billy Ocean was large and
in charge in the late 70s and much of the 80s pop and R&B market.

Ocean's contribution to the world of music is significant and just.
His music and records have influenced many of today's R&B artists
including one R. Kelly, who's popped up on the set producing two

Usher
to make big screen starring role

Well
Eminems done it and now it
seems that R&Bs latest prince will be doing it as well. R&B
croonerUsher will star in
an upcoming film that's been a hush hush project developed by
the cable channel MTV.
It's gotten into the bosses heads at MTV that Usher's phenomenal
year should be rewarded with him making a film that they will
develop especially for the R&B singer.
And even though MTV Films
is shrouding the upcoming project in secrecy, it has been revealed
the singer's big screen lead debut will not be autobiographical.
Paramount
Pictures is reportedly on board to distribute the
movie, which originally carried the working title 'Confessions'
- the same name as his latest mega-selling number one album.
In addition to starring in the movie, Usher has also signed
up to executive produce the film and provide the soundtrack.
Usher has had minor roles
in 'The Faculty', 'She's
All That', 'Light it Up'
and 'Texas Rangers.

Van
McCoy tribute will be in Nations capitol
If you're a fan of Van McCoy
then this should interest you. The music legend will have a concert
in his honor in the nation's capital on Saturday, July 31, of
this year to celebrate the life and legacy of the late singer/songwriter/producer.
The event will be held at Theodore Roosevelt
High School, in Washington, DC, in the auditorium where
the D.C. native was a graduate of the school in 1958. The Honorable
Linda Cropp, of the District
of Columbia Council Chair is honorary chair of the event and
Carla Reed, of Clear
View Productions is the producer. The show, for which
there is no charge, runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Doors open at 3:15
p.m. with seating on a first come basis, admission is for Adults
and Teens Only.
The musical legacy of Van continues
to shine around the world as a new generation of listeners has found
his songs in some form or another. With the evolution of the internet
his audience is world wide and bigger than ever. It is popular for
sampling in Hip Hop, and is being remixed for distribution throughout
the world. He wrote and produced music for numerous recording artists
including Aretha Franklin, Gladys
Knight, Roberta Flack,
Stacy Lattisaw, Donnie
Hathaway, Nina Simone,
David Ruffin to name a few.
He's best known for the disco generation song 'The
Hustle'. It sold over 10 million copies and won a Grammy
Award in 1975. McCoy's premature death on July 6, 1979, at 39 years
of age, shocked the world. He is listed among famous African Americans
buried in historic, Lincoln Cemetery, in Suitland, MD.
