Lori
Perry steps out with 'Wrote this Song'
-
Lori Perry should be well known
to all R&B and soul fans alike. After all she's part of the
famed Perry sisters (aka the all girl group Perri)
who's debut album 'Celebrate'
was produced by none other than Jazz great Pat
Methany.
The seasoned singer is now presenting to the world her long awaited
solo project entitled 'Wrote This Song',
an inspirational yet inspiring compilation of smooth jazz vocals
and delicious melodies contributing to creating a fresh new sound
of "GoJazz".
Lori and her three sisters Carol,
Darlene and Sharon
started out in the family church choir with their grandfather rooted
at the center of it all. They'd sing at church by day and do their
gigs by night. They put a demo together and sent it to various record
labels and it happened to land in the hands of Jazz musician Pat
Methany. So impressed by their vocal presence he invited
them to sing at one of his performances in LA and the rest as they
say is history.
Lori and her sisters has since performed with the likes of The
Yellow Jackets, Anita Baker,
George Duke, Cher,
Brian Culbertson, Roberta
Flack, Sting, George
Michael and Seal
to name a few and Lori's also penned a few tunes as well including
'I Can't Sleep' which can be
found on the latest Anita Baker
album 'My Everything'.
Now Lori steps out into the solo limelight with her long awaited
solo album 'Wrote This Song'
(released November 2nd on PaLance
records). The title track is the first single released to radio
and is currently warming the charts. Other notables include 'When
It's Done', 'I'll Follow You'
and 'On My Mind'. For for info

UK's
Urban Music Event NW takes center stage in NW London
- The
one thing I can say without a any conviction when it comes to music
(especially R&B music) in my native homeland of England is that
it's really appreciated. Fans both young and old really love their
music there. And the events and concerts there tend to prove it.
One such event is the Urban
Music Event NW or U:ME NW
as it's otherwise known out there hosted by London's premier hip
Hop and R&B radio station 1Xtra.
Billed as the only north west event of its kind (which it is), Urban
Music Event NW is the one event that fans of all eras
will want to check out particularly if you're a fan of urban music,
have a music business idea or want to have a career in music.
Join the staff and DJ's of
1Xtra on the day to take part in exclusive promotions from 1Xtra,
at the Dairy and Home Management and Manchester Midi School.
The promotions will include feedback on demos sent in from young
and upcoming UK talent, the opportunity to record in top flight
studios much in the manner as the likes of So
Solid Crew, Big Brovaz,
Misteeq and Terri
Walker plus top prizes like free places on taster DJ
and music production courses. One not to be missed by any means.

Paul
Weller's back in the 'Studio' for his latest release
-
Paul
Weller is not one for conventional wisdom where doing
things the easy way is concerned. His road to stardom was always
challenging and when it seemed he'd made it he'd walk away. Such
is the case where his first band was concerned.
The Jam existence was in the
time of the 70s punk rock music where in it's height was always
striving to survive in the world of contemporary pop. Paul and
company was turning heads with their style of music not so much
punk-rock but more a mixture of blues and rock with the punk element
so when they arrived on the scene they were poised for the big
time but then out of the blue Paul walked away from the band instead
formed the often political oriented, jazz and blue-eyed pop soul
band the Style Council. The
band scored big on several levels with hits like 'Dropping
bombs on the Whitehouse', 'Changing
of the Guard', 'The Lodgers'
and 'The Long Hot Summer'.
The band eventually disbanded in the late 80s and decided on a
solo career.
These days find Paul in
a more somber mood as he's settled in with his role of British
rock's elder statesman. With that said as is the norm with him
he's gone and released his first album of cover tunes called
'Studio 150'
The album has tackled the
likes of Aaron Neville's
'Hercules'? and Rose
Royce's 'Wishing On a Star'
while tracing Wellers roots with The
Jam's on their track
'English Rose' and Gil
Scott-Heron's 'The Bottle'.
Covering 3 decades of music, Studio
150 offers a little bit of everything for the listener
and for fans of Paul you will not be disappointed. Check out
the new set available now at a record shop near you.

Hotel
heiress tries her luck with singing, album forthcoming
Hotel
heiress Paris Hilton has been
in the public eye the last few years although some might say for
the wrong reasons. She's had her sex life made public for the world
to see and interesting enough at the same time she was about to
premier her TV show on FOX called 'The
Simple Life'. The show focuses on the heiress and friend
Nicole Richie (stepdaughter
to singer Lionel Richie) on
their travels throughout the Midwest and their bumblings.
Now in it's 3rd season, 'Simple Life 3:
Interns', shows strong ratings
for the platinum blonde gal who's life seemed to be one of nothing
but leisure but recently has had an appreciation for a healthy work
ethic because of it. Now she wants to become a singer and make an
album.
She's enlisted the help of
in-the-moment producer Lil' Jon
to work on the album but with the wanna be singer's schedule being
as it is (with her filming her movie 'Pledge
This!' in Miami), and Jon sidetracked working with
his crew the East Side Boyz,
the two has yet to actually go in the studio to record - he however
sent over four tracks for her to consider and she's picked the
one she likes, a song called 'That's
Hot'. Despite his reputation, Jon said the song didn't
have a crunk beat, that it was "just a club song."
"It's really like hip-hop
though," Hilton said. "So I told him to tone it down
a little. It's hot, but it's more like for Lil' Kim, and I told
him to make it more like me."
Meanwhile, Hilton still plans
to team up with the Black Eyed Peas
to write a song, and she recently finished a retooled, rockier
version of her first single, 'Screwed',
with producer Rob Cavallo.
No date is available on the release of the album.
