Happy
New Year from TYDmusic for 2005
-
Well with 2005 finally upon us, there's lots to be cheerful for.
For most of us we want the normalities in life, health, strength
and prosperity along with a little good fortune thrown in the thick
of it. For others though, they are not so lucky to have any of those
things.
There are people in the world who are less fortunate and are always
in the forefront of our minds and thoughts at this time of year.
Its a time where we, as a race reflect on what we can or cannot
do to help our fellow man. Those who are left with nothing in last
week's terrible diseaster in Indonesia are a shining example, but
all is not lost as the will is stronger than the might and human
kindness always prevail.
I'd like to wish one and all everything your heart desires and that
all your dreams come true in 2005. Happy new year eveybody from
TYDmusic.com.

The
O'Jays to be inducted in 'Hall of Fame'
- They
have been entertaining the masses for well over 30 years with their
soothing brand of soul and R&B music and sultry ballads and
now the Soul trio of the O’Jays
have been elected for induction in the prestigious Rock &
Roll Hall of Fame (and rightfully so if I might add).
The group who consists of Eddie Levert,
William Powell and Walter
Williams formed in the late 60s and have several US number
1 hits during the 1970s and ‘80s (eight in all) including the ever
popular tracks 'Love Train'
and 'Use Ta Be My Girl'.
They will be officially inducted at a ceremony in the spring of
next year. The group are among five musical acts nominated for the
honour and join soul veteran Percy Sledge
and blues guitarist Buddy Guy.
Irish rock band U2 and the
Pretenders are the other two inductees.

Tsunami
disaester relief in tow with US benefits
-
The
world was shocked to learn of the tragety that has struck Indonesa
last week. The loss of human lives are in the thousands and it
deems to get worse as the days go by. The force of nature is eminent
in todays society but this sort of thing has been happening far
too often in my opinion but you can't stop nature taking its course.
The relief effort has taken shape with Americans digging into
their pockets to send donations. There are many charities doing
their part and you can donate at several of your choosing (the
American Red Cross and the
Salvation Army are a couple
that comes to mind) but on the music side of things, there are
several benefits taking shape in the cause as well.
NBC plans to do a telefon to feature some of today's top billing
acts including Sir Elton John
and rapper Nelly to name a
few. Scheduled performers to appear include Madonna,
Diana Ross, Stevie
Wonder, Norah Jones,
Mary J. Blige, Lenny
Kravitz, and India.Arie.
The event pegged Tsunami Aid: A Concert
of Hope will take place Jan 15th at 8pm across the
NBC networks while singer, songwriter, composer, actor and activist
Sting will perform a concert
at Leeuwin Estate Winery.
All proceeds will go to UNICEF's
emergency work and other Australian registered charities supporting
the tsunami victims
Also in the works is the Tsunami Benefit
Concert feat. Eric Clapton
Gwen Stefani, Elton
John, Rod Stewart,
Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon
Osbourne, American Idol's Simon
Cowell and Coldplay
among others all of whom will appear in the benefit to be held
in Cardiff Jan. 22nd.

The
'Godfather of Soul' has another suit brought against him
A
Chicago woman has filed a federal lawsuit claiming that the 'Godfather
of Soul' James Brown
is to blame for her suffering from Graves' disease because he raped
her at gunpoint in South Carolina in 1988.
A lawyer for Brown called
Jacque Hollander's allegations
"rag sheet fodder," adding that the woman's claims were
dismissed as frivolous by judge in 2002 that also cleared Brown
of another woman's sexual harassment allegations.
Attorney Debra
Opri also said Brown never raped Hollander. "This
is what you call a shakedown in its most stupid form," Opri
said. "It's too little, too late and baseless."
In the lawsuit, Hollander
claims she was an aspiring songwriter working as a publicist for
Brown in 1988, when while riding with him in a van, Brown pulled
over, grabbed a shotgun and raped her. The lawsuit filed in U.S.
