Gerald Levert will not face charges of assault

Not guilty - Gerald Levert R&B singer Gerald Levert will not face charges for assault on two patrolmen in Cleveland a week ago due to lack of evidence it was reported last week. Prosecutor Anthony Jordan said in a statement that ''there was no evidence the singer caused serious physical harm to patrolmen Ronald W. Ross and Daniel Lentz''.

The confrontation with the officers happened in Cleveland on Friday March 4th when Levert and a friend intervened when they saw the policemen stopping a friend of his for speeding. The officers Patrolmen Ronald W. Ross and Daniel Lentz said that they had hurt their wrist and shoulder respectively in the confrontation that saw Levert get cited for driving under the influence and inpeding the flow of traffic.

"If these officers were assaulted and injured as a result of that assault, there should have been a charge of assault on a police officer, a felony," said Bob Beck, president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association. Austin, 27, is charged with felonious assault for allegedly punching Lentz in the face.

Celebrating music of the soul - Essence Music FestIt is an event that most of us who loves soul music (if you can afford to go) would attend and why not as it features some of the hottest performers in soul music of today and yesteryear. Not aware to what I'm on about well it's the 2005 Essence Music Fest presented by Coca Cola.

In celebration of the 35th anniversary of Essence magazine, the annual event will return to New Orleans between July 1-3 with ticketed nightly concerts taking place at the Louisiana Superdome and free daytime seminars at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Alicia Keys, Destiny's Child and Kanye West are just a few of the all-star lineup who has confirmed with Aretha Franklin to headline the opening night's main stage performance. Keys, John Legend and Ruben Studdard are rumored to join in the performance.

Destiny's Child
will anchor the July 2 bill with Kanye West, Teena Marie and Fantasia also set to appear and closing out the festivities as ever is Frankie Beverly and Maze with Lionel Richie, Kem and actress/comedian Mo'Nique on the bill. Each night will also feature what is called "superlounges" with performers such as the Roots, Floetry, Terrence Blanchard, Slick Rick, Talib Kweli, Doug E. Fresh, Jeffrey Osborne, the Wailers, Vivian Green and Me'Shell Ndegeocello, among others taking to the stage.
