Outkast
and Rosa Parks settle over 'Ms Jackson'
- After
almost 5 years of going back and forth to the courts debating who
was right and who was wrong, OutKast
and civit rights avicate Rosa Parks
have finally settled matters between them.
We all know the story of Ms
Parks who refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama,
bus to a white woman and she also didn't give out her name as well
as she sued the Atlanta outfit in 1999, accusing the rappers of
wrongfully appropriating her name for their song 'Rosa
Parks'.
Under the terms of the settlement,
Outkast and Sony
BMG actually admit no wrongdoing, but have agreed to
"enlighten today's youth about the significant role Rosa Parks
played in making America a better place for all races," said
Parks guardian Dennis Archer
in a statement.
Parks originally filed her
lawsuit in Michigan, accusing Big Boi
and Andre 3000 and record company
BMG of profiting off her moniker and falsely suggesting the song
'Rosa Parks' was endorsed by
her. In addition to monetary damages, she sought to have the track
removed from all future pressings of the disc. Sony will not remove
the song from future discs but have agreed to produce a tribute
disc to her.

Miami's
own Nadia Turner the latest AI casualty
- She
has a model like physique and big eyes, wears various different
hairstyles including a moe-hawk and afro and now Nadia
Turner is the latest American
Idol contestant to be voted off.
The sourcy singer was given the challenge of singing a song released
in the year she was born (1977), and the waitress and bartender
from Miami chose to sing a song by country singer Crystal
Gayle. The result - unanimously bad reviews from the
three judges.
"It was an appalling choice of song and I think you could go
home after that," said hold-no-bars Simon
Cowell. Randy
Jackson agreed,
pointing out that there were better songs to choose from. "A
year's worth of songs and you chose that one," Jackson said.
"I don't even know what that song is."
But true to form, Nadia
defended her choice, saying, "It's a song about dreaming and
I've always been a dreamer."
Turner's dismissal came as
something of a surprise to most as all had her as a favourite to
go all the way and the judges singing her praise including Cowell
who said that 'In a competition of hamburgers, you're a steak' while
Jackson stated she has that 'star quality' about her.
Nadia should land on her feet though I'm sure and with a bright
future ahead of her she will be back -we haven't heard the last
of Nadia Turner.

D'Angelo
pleads guilty to charges of DUI and ganga
D'Angelo has pleaded guilty to charges of marijuana possession
and driving under the influence that stemmed from a traffic stop
in January in Richmond, Virginia.
The singer whose given name is Michael Archer waived his preliminary
hearing on a third charge of felony cocaine possession (that to
be taken to a Chesterfield Circuit Court grand jury) and was fined
$250, given a 90 day suspended jail sentence and revoked his driver's
license for one year for the DUI conviction.
D'Angelo's troubles began
when he was pulled over in the wee hours of the morning on Jan.
9 and subsequently charged with drunk driving. When officials
searched his car, they discovered he was in possession of a small
amount of pot and 0.29 grams of cocaine.
For the marijuana conviction,
D'Angelo paid a $50 fine, received a 10-day suspended jail sentence
and lost his license for an additional six months.
Though he pleaded guilty
to both charges, D'Angelo chose to appeal the convictions to Chesterfield
Circuit Court, but may withdraw the appeals, according to a court
official.
