Nivea
returns with 'Complicated' sophomore set
- With
a slew of female R&B newcomers popping up on the soul scene
in recent years, you would thing that singer Nivea
would be a foregone conclusion. The pint sized singer whos birth
name is Nivea scored big on her debut with 'Laundromat'
and 'Don't mess with my Man'
but all that's about to change as she returns with her sophomore
release 'Complicated'.
Nivea has worked with some
of musics heavy hitters on the new disc from Lil’
John to R
Kelly, to her husband/producer Terius
'The Dream' Nash.
The first single, 'Okay' features
the Crunkmaster, Lil’
John, and has received a lot of airplay across the
board.
'Complicated'
several potential hit songs on tap like the song featuring R.
Kelly, 'Gangsta
Girl', as well as 'I Can’t Mess
With You', 'Parking Lot'
and 'Indian Dance'. Overall,
a decent CD to have in your music collection. The disc is in record
shops now.

Toni
Braxton is 'Pleased' with latest release
-
Sexy R&B singer Toni Braxton
is back with a brand new single taken from her new yet-to-be titled
album which will be released on her new label Blackground Records
in September.
The song called 'Please' was
produced by Scott Storch, who
has produced hits for some of biggest hip hopsters in the game including
50 Cent, Fat
Joe, Lil'
Kim, and Dr.
Dre. She's been busy during her off time as well pursuing
an acting career. She has a recurring role on the actor Taye
Diggs produced TV show on UPN - Kevin
Hill.
The album is her first for Blackground. Braxton joined the label
after recording for former label LaFace/Arista
Records for her entire career. The singer's last album,
2002's More Than A Woman, was a commercial disappointment,
selling less than 400,000 copies, one of the reasons that prompted
the label change.
Braxton's self-titled 1993 debut and the 1996 follow-up, Secrets,
each
sold more than eight million copies. The singer's next release 2000s
'The Heat',
went double-platinum, while Braxton's 2001 holiday set,
Snowflakes, went gold.

R&B
superstar R. Kelly who is
currently in the middle of a child pornography case for having
sex with an underage girl will drop his latest album 'TP3:
Reloaded' this coming July
5 on Jive Records.
And although the full tracklisting of the set is still not finalized,
the set will feature two songs making the rounds on R&B
radio at present. 'In the Kitchen'
peaked last month at No. 18 on Billboard's
Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, while the popular
track 'Trapped in the Closet
(Part 1)' is No. 23 this
week on the same chart.
There are actually five 'chapters' to the 'Trapped
in the Closet' narrative, each of which ends with
a cliffhanger foreshadowing the next song. According to a spokesperson,
Kelly is presently in Chicago creating a short film to illustrate
the saga, which will be released on a bonus DVD with 'TP3.'
BET will air a 'making of' special for 'Trapped
in the Closet' during the
week of the new album's release. A video for 'Part 1' of the
song is expected to hit BET and MTV around May 30.

Keith
Martin proves he's 'Not Alone' on third set
Keith Martin is out to prove
to his critics and fans alike that he's no 'one hit wonder' with
his latest set called 'I’m Not Alone'
to be released under EMI Philippines.
The singer took 9 years to release his sophomore set 'Validated'
last year and found a loyal fan base as well as new found love
in the Phillipines where he looks to warm the hearts of Filipinos
like he did with his debut set 'It's
Long Overdue', which contains the phenomenal single
'Because of You'.
And like the first album,
'I’m Not Alone' may proves
to be the singer’s best yet as it carries several remakes that
are guaranteed to tug at every listener’s heart strings and emotions.
In a recent interview the
singer commented about being in the public eye and what it meant
“Being in the spotlight means people do pay attention to how you
look and you don’t want to be encouraging people to do things
like that. An example would be the album’s opening cover track,
'Now and Forever' (originally
by sung by Richard Marx),
and was a personal choice of Martin. Another highlight of this
13-track record is the 1990s hit of local artist Rannie
Raymundo, 'Why Can’t It Be?'
“I [gave] more thought to
this album and [was] more hands on in its creation,” the Washington
DC-based singer tells The Manila Times in an interview. “I [contributed]
in shaping it for a market and in dealing with the songs that
I really want to sing.”
Look for the new set to be in stores in the summer.
