Shanice
is back to answer 'Every Woman Dreams'
- Ummm...Shanice
- now if you're like most of us you're probably asking yourself
the question just where has Shanice Wilson
been the last five years or so? Your answer would be that she got
married and started a family (having two children) during that time
but her musical ambitions is still intact as the sultry singer with
her signature 'Smile' and high-octave
range has resurfaced with a new album in the works.
- The independently released album
called 'Every Woman Dreams' is
the first set of all new material for her since 1999s self-titled
Laface set. To kick off the release
of the new album she performed for an intimate group of fans, special
guests, and celebrities at Los Angeles The Conga Room last
Wednesday night (which also turned into a surprise birthday bash for
the R&B songstress) and the response to say the least was more
than overwhelming.
The performance was kicked off by her husband actor Flex
Alexander (star of the WB comedy series 'One
on One'), spreading rose petals along the path that she
would walk to take to the stage. Shortly after, her soothing, angelic
voice was heard like a bird coming from the entryway, as she sang
in acappella her rendition of the late Minnie
Ripperton’s classic 'Lovin’ You.'
a song she initially covered on her album 'Inner
Child'
She has surely grown from the 14 year old child singer we were introduced
to back in the late 80s. The former Star
Search winner is now a woman, and it shows in her delivery
and vocal performance. She would add several other songs from the
new album on the night's show including 'I’m
Gonna Take Care of You' and 'I’m
So Crazy For You' aimed clearly at her love for her husband
not to mention the highlight of the evening with the performance of
the title track and first single, 'Every
Woman Dreams'
'Every Woman Dreams', Shanice's
fifth album, has a tentative due date to be in stores this coming
August. It will be released on the couple’s own newly formed IME
Records, through a joint venture Playtime
Entertainment. Look out for it and welcome back Shanice
