Kool and the Gang set to release new album
One
of my all time favourite groups are back in the studio preparing to release
an all new set. Kool
and the Gang is gearing up to release their first album of all new material
in 6 years called 'GangLand' (Eagle Music). It's been
rumored that lead vocalist James "J.T." Taylor, will not
appear on the album. The material will be along the lines of their 70's
hit album 'Wild and Peaceful'.
The
'Gang' was formed by the Bell brothers Robert and Ronald in 1965 who along
with neighbourhood friends trombone player Clifford Adams, guitarists
Charles Smith and Woody Sparrow, trumpeter Robert
"Spike" Michens, alto saxophonist Dennis Thomas,
keyboard player Ricky West and drummer Funky George Brown who
to this day are still part of the ensamble cast. The album will be in stores
Aug 22nd

Jamiraquai's
back in full force with latest 'Lil L'
To
me
Jamiroquai
is a band like no other, they have left their mark on both the charts and me
over the years and their latest is no surprise. 'Lil
L' is truely vintage
"J" with it's signature house beat and retro disco feel. A heavy
drenched intro draws you into the main arena where you are hit hard with a
smooth yet funky delivery of Jay's piping vocals.
Taken
from the forthcoming album 'A
Funk Odyssey' in stores Sept
3rd in the UK and Europe and Sept 11th in the US, the album features a well
balanced array of tunes for the dance floor enthusiast that is sure to wet
their appetite so my advice to you is.....go get it

Angie
Stone's latest is sure to please the 'Brotha'
Miss
Stone returns to the musical spotlight with her latest release 'Brotha'
(J Records) as she pays tribute to the brothas across the globe The track
is taken off the forthcoming album 'Mahogany
Soul', her first
for J-Records, and although there is no definite street date set yet is
almost wrapped up and ready to go.
Producers
who have contributed this time around, includes Prince, Raphael
Saadiq, Warryn
Campbell, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Gerald Isaacs, Chucky
Thompson, Mr. busy
body Mike City
and Rufus Blaq.
Prince also sings a duet with Angie on the tune 'U Make My Sun Shine'. thats
already floating about but will be out by mid-August.'

Mariah's
'Glitter' delayed after hospitalization
Reigning
R&B/pop goddess Mariah Carey
has delayed the release of both her new album and movie debut "Glitter"
after she was admitted into a New York hospital this past week. According to her spokesperson.
Ms. Carey
checked into the hospital after suffering an emotional
breakdown; she remains under a doctor's care.
Billboard.com reports that
Virgin Records has moved the release of Carey's debut album for the label to
September 11; days earlier Twentieth Century Fox had pushed back the opening
of the film "Glitter," in which she stars . In a statement, Nancy
Berry, vice chairman of Virgin Music Group Worldwide said, "Mariah is
looking forward to being able to participate in both her album and movie
projects and we are hopeful that this new soundtrack release date will allow
her to do so."
