Singer/Actress Aaliyah dies in a plane
crash
It's
shocking to see and hear but the world is a loss for words for the passing
of R&B singer and actress Aaliyah. The
22 yr old Brooklyn born native died
Saturday (Aug. 25) when a small plane that carried her and eight others
crashed shortly after takeoff in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, on their way back
to Opa Locka, FL. All nine people on board were killed in the crash reports
say the engines of the Cessna apparently failed.
Aaliyah
(whose given name is Aaliyah Dana
Haughton) had gone to the Bahamas to shoot
her latest music video "Rock the Boat" the 2nd single from her
self titled album now available on Blackground records.
It is said that the twin-engine Cessna went down in clear skies with little
wind about 6:50 p.m. Saturday, roughly 200 feet from the end of the runway
at Marsh Harbour airport, It is not immediately clear what caused the crash
but Bahamian police Superintendent Basil Rahming said one of the Cessna's
engines "apparently failed." Six people, including Aaliyah, died
instantly. The three others later died of their injuries, he said.
My deepest sympathies goes out to her immediate family, friends and fans
alike for their tragic loss

Michael
Jackson becomes 'Invincible' Oct 30th
The
King of Pop returns.
Michael Jackson
is back with his first studio album in
six years that will be released Oct. 30 here in the U.S. and Canada, and a
day earlier internationally. "Invincible,"
(another one name title following the likes of 'Bad',
'Dangerous'
and 'Thriller')
as it is amply entitled
will have the lead off single "You Rock My
World," (produced and
written by Michael and
Rodney Jerkins) features Chris Tucker in adlib and
premiered on Michael's website
www.michaeljackson.com
last friday (Aug
24th).
From what insiders say this album could be some of his best work since
'Thriller' blending some of the old with some of the new in tracks so we'll
see once the entire thing is on the shelves

The
HipHop Source Awards: and the winners are?
The
3rd annual HipHop Source Awards held court right here in Miami last Monday
night (Aug 20th) and to all concerned there was no flair ups or
interruptions on stage or off for that matter.
Big
winners on the night were the hip-hop duo Outkast and
St. Louis's own Nelly
who came out tops at
the main event. Outkast
picked up Best Artist of the year by a group and Best Live
Performer of the year, while Nelly took home
Best New Artist of the
year and Best Album for the Universal set "Country
Grammar." This year's show will air Aug. 28 on UPN.
Other winners include Eminem who won video of the year for "Stan,"
Ja Rule, who got the single of the year award for "Put It On
Me,"
featuring Lil' Mo,
The Neptunes for producer of the year and R&B artist
of the year went to R. Kelly
while Jay-Z won for solo artist of the year.

'Don't
you forget' about Glenn Lewis
Look
out for this young man who's soulful range will win over young ladies hearts.
Glenn
Lewis debut release is 'Don't you forget
it' a sultry masterpiece produced
by up and coming young gun Andre Harris who you'll remember produced
Jill
Scott's excellent debut set 'Who
is Jill Scott - Words and Sounds Vol.1'.
The song
itself is well written and is crafted for today's soul lovers who crave
the likes of a Marvin Gaye or Bobby
Womack track. Reminisce of the latest
trend in the neo-soul gender and following in the footsteps of Bilal,
Musiq and D'Angelo, Mr. Lewis really shines and I can't wait for his self
titled debut set. The song will also be featured on the Epic compilation
album 'Red star Sounds Vol.1' in stores this October.
