Valerie
Jones of 'Jones Girls' Fame dead at 45
Valorie
Jones of the trio sister singing group the
'Jones Girls' died Dec 2nd at
Sinai
Grace Hospital in her home town of Detroit, Michigan. No details were released as to the
cause of her death to this point, she
was 45 years old.
Though
they had started out in the 60s making their own records for the locally
based Fortune label they didn't makes any sales and soon after
moved to Hot Wax-Invictus,
the company formed by Holland-Dozier-Holland
and it was here where they finally got noticed. After singing back up for
the likes of Diana Ross.
Curtis Mayfield, B.B King
and countless others, the Jones Girls
came
to providence in the late 70s and 80s provided us with such memorable hits
as 'You gonna make me love
somebody else', 'Nights
over Egypt', 'Who
can I run to' and I
just love the man'. I will
be having a special tribute to Valorie and the Jones Girls this Thursday -
don't miss it. .

So Solid
Crew cancels dates in UK
The
entire 11-date U.K. tour of controversial garage collective So
Solid Crew and domestic dance duo
Oxide & Neutrino
have been canceled due to safety concerns.Promoters and authorities pulled a
number of dates earlier this week in response to a recent shooting incident at
the Astoria club in London reports billboard.com
In a
statement, the acts condemned the "draconian measures" which forced
the cancellation, adding that So Solid Crew and Oxide &
Neutrino have successfully appeared at many events throughout the U.K
without any incidents at all, making this ruling even more bizarre and
unfair." Their management and respective record labels are seeking
alternative venues for the performances in the new year, .
