Will
Downing to release 'Greatest Love Songs"
Will
Downing returns to the forefront once again with
a collection to rival many in the release of 'Greatest Love Songs'
(on Universal/Hip-o). Will's last release (last years 'All the man I
need' for Motown) came and went basically without making a bent on the
R&B market even though it was a fantastic set in my eyes.
This
set will feature Will's creme de la creme from his library of work
including a duet with Mica Paris on 'Where is the love', his
brilliant renindition of Angela Bofill's 'I Try'
Deniece
Williams 'Free'
and the late Bob Marley's
'Is this Love'. The set will drop January 15th 2002 I wouldn't
miss out on it.

Mariah
releases 'Grt Hits 2-Disc set
Speaking
of greatest hits, despite the terrible year she's had (from starring in her
1st movie which turns out to be a flop to reportedly having a nervous breakdown)
Mariah
looks to go out of this year with a bang with her 1st greatest hits set.
The
28 song set highlights her career from when the poppy eyed 19 year old scored a
No.1 hit her first time out with 'Vision of Love'
back in 1990 to last
year's 'Thank god I found you' with
Joe and
N' Sync. In
between there's hits like 'I
don't wanna cry', 'I'll
be there'
with Trey Lorenz,
'One sweet day
with Boyz to Men',
'Always be my baby'
and 'Forever'.
Quite a collection from the young lass I'm sure all faults aside this year
this will make a great Christmas gift.

Destiny's
Child gals to record solo projects
Not
that this year wasn't enough for Destiny's
Child, Michelle,
Beyoncé
and Kelly
reportedly will release solo projects next year. First up is Michelle
Williams, who will drop a
gospel album early next year, according to DC's manager Mathew Knowles.
The set will include a duet with veteran gospel singer Shirley Caesar
on "Steal Away to Jesus"
— a ballad that will first appear on Caesar's album Hymns, (available
October 30). and plans to record the remainder of her album before year's
end.
Beyoncé
has accepted a supporting actress role in the forthcoming Austin Powers
movie "Austin Powers in
Goldmember", that will
be released July 26 2002 she will turn her attention towards recording a
solo album next fall.
Last but not least will is Kelly
Rowland's solo debut which
will surface in early 2003 and is said to have an "alternative
R&B" sound to it, according to Mr. Knowles. Kelly's plans in the
meantime will include making appearances on television, beginning with a
guest-star role on an episode of the Nickelodeon sitcom "Taina."
Also recording is Beyoncé's younger sister, Solange who will do a
duet on the girls next project as a group.

N' Dambi's
'Tuning up and co-signing' a hit with me
If
you haven't heard of her then you will (trust me you will). N'Dambi is
a young lady who hails from the same town as Erykah
Babu (Dallas, TX) who also started out with
Erykah as a back-up vocalist (she's the one with the huge afro). N’Dambi
has played a pivotal role in all
of Erykah’s recordings to date, she did vocal production work on all of
her sets as well as co-wrote 'Hey
Sugah' on her most recent
release "Mama's Gun".
In 1999 she
released her debut album 'Little
Lost Girl Blues ' a sensuous and
wonderfully produced body of work that to me was the stand-out album for the
year. Songs such as 'See you in my
dreams ', 'Soul
from the Abyss ', 'Rain
'
and 'The Sunshine '
are just a few of the tracks that made noise in the underground circuit but
again felt no love on mainstream radio (for the life of me I don't understand
why) and with this set she adds even more fuel to the fire with future classics
like 'Day Dreamer ',
'Do Mat Mare Ray ',
'Call Me ',
'Bitter Bitter Blue ',
and 'Crazy World '
which only goes to show the true testaments to just how talented this young
author/business woman/producer/mother/singer /songwriter extraordinaire really
is. I urge anyone with a pulse who loves good soul music to go and get this album really
terrific stuff from start to finish.
