Mariah
Carey offered £35
million not to record another album
Rumor
mill is buzzing again and it bears some truth this time regarding pop diva
Mariah
Carey. It has been said
that Virgin
parent company EMI has
offered Mariah an estimated $50 miilion not to record another record for
the company and to go their separate ways.
Mariah
has only recorded the one album with Virgin, last years 'Glitter' the
soundtrack to the her first starring role film and to date has only sold
half a million units and the company has estimated to have lost $10
million on the set. I'm sure there'll be more to this as time goes on so
I'll keep you posted on this as it becomes available

Brandy's
new album 'Full Moon' drops in March
Miss
Norwood returns with her 3rd solo album called 'Full
Moon' for Atlantic on
March 5th. Brandy lends a helping hand writing some of the tracks on this
one with the usual culprats on the producing helm. The first single produced
by Rodney Jenkins is 'What about us' and is making the rounds on radio at
the moment.
Notable
tracks include a duet with younger brother Ray
J (I'd
Die Without You,) a remake
of the PM Dawn's
1993 hit as well as a sampled track (It's
not worth it) using Michael
Jackson's voice. The
album supposely has a more mature grown up tone to it and offers Brandy an
outlet to express her feelings atested to previous relationships (one must
vent right).
Look
out for the new album, I'm sure it will be a must have for all Brandy fans
alike. ,

American
Music Awards: the winners are...
The
American Music Awards
were handed out Jan 9th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and there
was no surprises here as most thought Alicia
Keys, Destiny's Child
and the late Aaliyah
all won two awards each on the night.
The
night saw Michael
Jackson take home the Artist
of the Century award
thanking his so called 'other father' Marlon
Brando in his acceptance
speech, Luther Vandross
was named Favorite Soul
Artist
for the sixth time. As a tribute to Beatles great George
Harrison, who died of
cancer last month, Vandross sang a medley of the Beatles' "Something"
and Harrison's solo hit, "My
Sweet Lord." and Sade
took home Favorite Artist - Adult Contemporary Music
