Former
Soul ll Soul singer Do'Reen is dead @ 36
Former
Soul II Soul
lead singer Do'Reen
was killed on Friday (March 1) after she was hit by three cars while
fleeing the scene of a store she had allegedly shoplifted from in Shorham,
West Sussex, England.
Her
death followed a confrontation with the store associates where she was
shopping. After being approached, Do'Reen
ran out of the store with the alleged contraband/s in hand and was struck
by the oncoming vehicles.
Born Doreen
Waddell, the 36-year-old
singer worked with Soul II Soul on their debut 1989 album 'Keep
On Movin', providing lead
vocals on the songs 'Feel
Free ' and 'Happiness.'
She leaves behind a 4-year-old son.

The
Purple one weds again and buys bride dream house
Prince
(given name: Prince Roger
Nelson though he's had a few)
has changed his name to a symbol, sued to get out of his recording contract
with Warner Bros and dissolves his marriage with Mayte
Garcia in what he called in a
symbolic gesture "Mayte and I are joined for life and the best way to
demonstrate it is to do away with the legal bonds that people demand."
all to serve the purpose of not being tied down (so to speak) but now it
would seem that he's suddenly had a change of heart?
According
to several reports, the reclusive Purple Prince (as I call him) has
secretly married Manuela
Testolini, a 25-year-old
Canadian from Toronto who was a former employee of the man's Paisley Park
Studios just outside Minneapolis. They reportedly tied the knot on New
Year's Eve where the two got
married on the sly in a small Jehovah's Witness ceremony in Hawaii. Testolini,
who's 18 years his junior wanted a dream house apparently and got one as
he bought a house for them in Toronto.
The couple has, according to Toronto's National Post, purchased a $3.5
million mansion in one of the city's richest neighborhoods. Prince's bride
has a new home on the Bridle Path. Land
registry records uncovered by the newspaper indicate the sprawling,
secluded home was bought by a company called Gamillah Holdings, whose
president just happens to be Testolini.

Ashanti
accomplishes 'Beatle-ish' feat
RnB
newcomer Ashanti Douglas has
achieved something most artists only dream of and to think she's done this
on her first time out. Prior to last summer she had never appeared on The
Billboard Hot 100. She
made her chart debut as the featured artist on Ja Rule's "Always
on Time," which
just completed a two-week run at No. 1. and now just 6 months later young
Ashanti has pulled off a rare feat, one that may not have been seen since The
Beatles did it in
1964.
The week before 'Always
on Time ' advanced to
No. 1, two more songs either featuring or by Ashanti
entered the Hot 100: 'What's
Luv? ' by heavyweight
rapper Fat Joe
and 'Foolish,'
her
debut solo effort. For the week ending March 9, 'What's
Luv? ' jumps 23-15 and
'Foolish '
jumps an amazing 22 spots from 51 to 29, that means Ashanti's first three
chart entries are all in the Top 30 portion of the chart at the same time.
a feat only bettered by The Beatles in 1964. The A-sides of their first
three chart
entries, 'I Want to Hold
Your Hand,' 'She
Loves You,' and 'Please
Please Me '
occupied the top three positions on the Hot 100 the week of March 14,
1964.
Congrats to the
young lady (who in some ways resembles Beyonce
Knowles of Destiny's
Child - don't you think).
