Reports say Aaliyah's pilot had drugs in his system

It has been reported that the pilot flying Aaliyah's plane has traces of cocaine and alcohol in his body at the time of the crash that took both of their lives and the lives of eight others last August. Authorities are investigating how cocaine and alcohol may have affected the pilot of a small plane that crashed in the Bahamas last August, killing 22-year-old singer/actress Aaliyah and eight others.

Aviation officials said that an autopsy performed on Luis Antonio Morales Blanes showed he had cocaine in his urine and traces of alcohol in his stomach. The autopsy findings were released for the first time along with the crash investigation report, the Bahamas Department of Civil Aviation said.

Morales, 30, was sentenced to three years probation on charges of crack cocaine possession 12 days before the crash. The aviation department also said the aircraft may not have undergone fuel-pump wiring modifications required in August 1988. Unidentified particles and corrosion found in the fuel filters were "indications that routine maintenance was not being performed," the statement said.

The investigative committee has not yet been able to talk to the plane's owner or inspect the engine or aircraft log books, which would show maintenance, it said.

Kenny and Chante to release husband and wife album

R&B's latest newlyweds Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore are rumored to drop a joint effort scheduled for a September 10 release on Arista Records.
To date, the husband and wife duo have recorded several remakes of some of their favorite songs, including Billy Preston and Syreetta Wright's 1979 hit "With You I'm Born Again." When asked recently the couple  explained the work in progress: "We've done songs like 'With You I'm Born Again.' We've made some song duets that were not duets like..." 'Still' from Lionel Richie. and Teddy Pendergrass's 'Close The Door.' so, we're still in the process of selecting. A lot of times, what happens is that you record things that you think might work, and see if you really bring magic to it, and you select what those songs, those final songs will be for the album."

The first single and album title have not yet been determined.

Teddy Riley files for bankrupcy

Producer Teddy Riley filed for bankruptcy in a Virginia Beach, Virginia courtroom on Tuesday (July 16). His lawyer stated that Teddy Riley could not pay his creditors or the Internal Revenue Service for back taxes totaling $1.45 million.

Riley, 34, who has produced recordings for Michael Jackson, *NSYNC, Bobby Brown and his own group Blackstreet among others is now filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy under Federal law, hoping to reorganize his finances, according to his attorney Michael Lehman, reports the Associated Press.

In a court affidavit, Riley stated, "As a result of the downturn in the music industry and having not been able to produce a successful record of late, my income dropped precipitously. Consequently, I am unable to meet my substantial liabilities." In addition to his I.R.S. tax bill for 1998-2001, Riley owes $243,855 in Virginia taxes for 1996-98 and 2001 and also owes Virginia Beach $35,417 in real estate taxes.
