Recently
a number of female artists have been carving their nitch in the
music industry. From Christina
Aguilera and Britney
Spears to Alicia
Keys and the late Aaliyah
all of whom have made an immediate impact. And with this said it
brings me to the latest
lass to hit the music scene - Norah
Jones.
Norah's a Dallas born native
who has been a shining light in the female pop/Jazz arena. She's
been compared to the likes of Tracy
Chapman, Joan
Armatrading, Ricki
Lee Jones and Sheryl
Crow for her honest
approach in her debut release 'Come
away with me'. The
title track is a delightful ballad that is rich in texture and
style. Her voice is very soothing to the listening ear which makes
it even more of a treat to play to over and over again. The
album is produced by legendary producer Arif
Mardin who brings to
the table the tools of a seasoned veteran touching the elements of
jazz, blues, soul and folk (evident in 'Don't
know why')
Other notables are 'Cold,
cold heart', 'Feeling
the same way', 'Turn
me on' and 'I've
got to see you again'.
The album is available now at a record store near you I suggest you
get yourself a copy. A TY-D
pick here.
