Gospel Gal - Anne Nesby Anne Nesby feat: Al Green - Put it on paper : (Universal)

This record was originally slated to drop last summer as it was sent out to radio but was held back for 'reasons unknown'. Well almost a year later Anne Nesby (the former lead singer for the gospel group The Sounds of Blackness) returns with 'Put it on paper' the lead off single taken from her sophomore release of the same name (on new label Universal).

It's been almost 6 years since we last heard of anything new from Anne and so anticipation on this record was high. Not to worry though cos Anne's powerful chops are in full swing here as she gears the song's direction to full effect.

Featured on 'Put it on paper' alongside her is the monarch of gospel himself Rev. Al Green who's seasoned voice helps to enhances the track. Also evident is Anne's ability to groove you which she does ever so well (and effortlessly I might add) with her rendition of the Brainstorm classic 'Loving is really my game' produced by. Other notables include 'She can't love you', 'You always cared', 'Advice' and 'Tonight's the night

The 13 track disc is in stores as of last week and so if you like your gospel true and strong with a message of meaning and guidance then I strongly suggest getting this disc. A TY-D Pick no question.

 Kloud 9 - On Kloud 9 : (Expansion)

Kelvis and Kendall Duffie of Kloud 9 have a special bond between them, they are twins with one being older than the other by 34 mins. They share common interests (like movies, sports) and one of them is music particularly R&B music. Originally performing together as part of a 4-member contemporary gospel outfit, the twin brothers performed and recorded all over the continental U.S., Europe and South America and with several big name acts.

After years of experience and homing their craft, they found themselves working on the other side of the industry, being involved in radio promotions, artist development and production but still yearned with a strong desire to make music. Deciding to make their music they formed Kloud 9 and started creating material for the set. What is the finishing product is a set of songs that has an appeal to all.

From Incognito doing what they do on the uptempo dance groove 'Promise', which touches on the subject of many of today's issues to Karen Bernod on the jazzy influenced, toe tapper 'Let's not lose' addressing the importance of relationships. The lead off single will be 'Can't stop thinking about you' written and produced by Mitchell Jones of the famed Gospel group Commissioned, a mid-tempo wedding bells bopper tune that also makes an appearance on the new wedding compilation 'With This Ring-Forever I Do'.

Saxophonist Kirk Whalum shines on 'Make you mine which reminds us that romance very much in the air for the young and old enjoying today's love songs. Other notables include 'If You Ever' 'Never Knew' 'Thats How Love Should Be' and 'Mercy of your love'. The CD will be on your record shop shelves next week.  A TY-D Pick indeed for any true soul fan
